Latest update to Solaris 10 includes support to easily run legacy Linux® applications!
Sun is announcing the release of the Solaris 10 8/07 update. With this release, the Solaris 10 operating system now includes:
- Solaris Containers for Linux® Applications giving customers the ability to leverage Solaris applications and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 applications in a single system.
- Update to the performance-optimized and cost-effective PostgreSQL open-source database software.
- Ability to run multiple independent network stacks on one system
- Networking and DTrace technology enhancements
Solaris 10 enables customers to take advantage of virtualization technologies such as Solaris Containers to increase utilization of their systems, while helping reduce maintenance and hardware acquisition costs as well as real estate space requirements.
