Oracle OpenWorld 2007
AMD participated as the Marquee Sponsor at Oracle OpenWorld 2007, once again this year. AMD’s presence was seen throughout the event beginning with Hector Ruiz’s keynote on Monday morning following Oracle’s Charles Phillips’ introduction. AMD held six speaking sessions ranging from virtualization to business applications running on AMD Opteron processors, to benchmark reviews and customer testimonials. AMD also had a large booth presence promoting hardware partner server and rack solutions plus five to six theater sessions each day. Overall, Oracle OpenWorld 2007 was a successful event for AMD.

Dell and Microsoft Announce Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing Solutions based on AMD
On September 20, at the PASS SQL Server Summit, Dell and Microsoft announced that they have collaborated to build Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse Reference Configurations. The new business solutions, jointly engineered by Dell and Microsoft, include a stack of AMD-based server hardware, storage arrays, operating system, database and analytics software, and management and reporting tools.

Dell’s first BI Reference Configuration is based on the AMD processor-based PowerEdge Server products. Whitepapers and configuration tools can be accessed at www.dell.com/sql. These reference configurations come in three sizes; one terabyte, two terabyte, and four terabyte data warehousing databases using SQL Server 2005.
