IBM’s industry leading middleware products and tools, including WebSphere, DB2, Lotus, Tivoli, and Rational, power the infrastructures of some of the best run companies in the world. IBM and AMD have a long and successful relationship in working together to provide products that meet customer needs for high performance computing in the scientific and engineering fields. IBM Software will increasingly translate advances in processor technology into performance gains for our customers worldwide to enable and expand business performance computing.
IBM Software makes excellent use of the features of AMD processor performance and architecture, such as native 64-bit computing, multi-core processing, and NUMA memory architecture. IBM and AMD engineers are enhancing the performance of Java technology, and IBM’s middleware portfolio is continually being optimized to take advantage of advances in processor technology and new architectures. Looking forward to architectures such as AMD’s Torrenza, IBM Software Group is working with AMD on applications in code acceleration and co-processing. Teams from IBM and AMD are also engaging in discussions of the state-of-the-art in multi-threaded computing, and HW/SW co-design, towards shortening the lead time between the availability of hardware and its exploitation in software.
